The email account for att.net and att.com are both provided with the internet service from the company. It comprises of two parts, the name of the user and the applicable AT&T domain name. Although there are several free email services available to users these days, AT&T email account still have some distinct benefits over Gmail, Hotmail and others. For one, this is an exclusive email account that is only offered to AT&T customers.
This means that you get the additional security that comes with being connected to a private domain as opposed to a public service. Of course, there are also the additional features which are no less than those provided by the leading email services of the day.

Signing up for AT&T mail
As stated above, this is a facility that is only offered to clients of AT&T, so you will not have to go through the signup procedure as your Member ID with the service will be your username and a temporary password will also be assigned to your account, which can then be changed. There used to be a registration process for accessing the email service but at this point, it has been discontinued. Although you will not be able to change the username, at least of the primary account, it is possible to create secondary/sub accounts and this is how you go about the process:
Step 1: Go to http://att.yahoo.com/ and sign in to Yahoo! With your primary AT&T mail login details. Remember that only primary account holders are allowed to create sub accounts.
Step 2: On top of the page, you should see the link that reads “account info” or “member Id” or “Member Center”. This link can be seen at the top of the Yahoo! Page or the att.net mail page. Click on this link and you should see the option for “manage sub account”. Choose this quick link by clicking on it. You will only be able to see this link if you have used your primary att mail login details.
Step 3: At this point, you should see the “my accounts and billing” page on your screen. Here, in the sub account sections, click on the button that reads “create new sub account”.
Step 4: You will be redirected to the sub account creation form. However, before you are allowed access to this page, you will be asked to verify your member ID and password one more time. Follow through with this process.
Step 5: You will see fields for capturing the sub account username and password. Along with this information, you will also be asked to provide personal and security details which will be used for att mail login password/username recovery, when required.
Step 6: Then, accept the terms and service policies by checking the box and click on the button that says “create sub account”.
Step 7: You will be given several options for configuring the service for the sub accounts linked to your primary account. Select those that you want and click “next”. Finally, confirm that you have created a new sub account.
